“… If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth,

and the truth will make you free.” John 8:31,32

I was clueless to all the lies I had embraced throughout the years, especially those I believed were scriptural. Eventually, I realized I had spent too many years allowing these lies to create obstacles in my relationship with God and others.

Satan is the master of lies and he is intent to steal, kill, and destroy us with his subtle deceptions. We can find ourselves lured into false thinking through distorted beliefs that we sometimes adopt from our families, friends, well-meaning teachers, and even from religious leaders.

It’s possible to be exposed to false doctrines and misunderstandings of God’s Word our whole life. Exposure to these distortions can inevitably leave us vulnerable to pain, shame, and sin. We can even base some of life’s most important decisions around distorted beliefs. Unless we have a thorough knowledge of God’s Word, we will likely never recognize the lies we’ve been led to believe.

For years, I lived by the lie that “I could handle problems alone, just between me and God.”  Satan’s desire was for me to remain in isolation with my issues. After years of keeping my pain and problems completely to myself, I finally grasped the truth and learned to confess my pain, shame, and sin to safe, godly counselors and friends. That decision set me free to live the life that God desired for me to live, one of freedom and transparency.

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.

The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power

and produces wonderful results.” James 5:16
